The Huaqiangbei Shopping Area is in Shenzhen, whose predecessor was the industrial zone with more than 40 factory buildings of the electronics production, the communication and electric products. As the economy developed, the rising costs cause the factories to moved out and the malls moved in shifting the function of the Huaqiangbei area. The government promptly seized the opportunity for transformation, started to reform this area in 1998, and made it the most traditional and most popular shopping area in Shenzhen.
